So week 11 passed with little incident, or for that matter training ! Really nothing to be done but let the knee heal and try and not stress where the new skin is growing and knitting together.
Tuesday was of course Valentines day, so apart from a few heart shaped items, 3 books on cycling and a book on climbing, Who says romance is dead ?
Thursday / Friday I was up in the Cumbrian office doing various bits & pieces, Before Friday afternoon driving down to Grasmere to spend a weekend with Sue and my parents as part of Mum’s birthday celebrations. Made even better, by the arrival of Sam (my sprog) and her OH Matt to join us for supper. They were staying in our cottage up in Keswick. And unlike the oldies who got a pile of cycling books, My daughter got a rather impressive rock to go on her left hand…… It was bad enough having a daughter that was old enough to drive, and then buy her own house…. But getting married ??????
Saturday morning was bright and dry, and as we were planning to look after my folks and keep them entertained why hadn’t taken our mountain gear, But we had packed running kit. So Sue and me did a gentle run around Grasmere lake, and of course gave me chance to try out the new Timex Global Trainer I got for my wedding anniversary, Took awhile for the gps to sync up, but it was a wonderful morning, no people about, blue sky and a gorgeous lake to run around, the company was pretty good as well. Spent the rest of the day sight seeing and the like.
Sunday after another great run round the lake, the plan was to drive over the Hardnott and Wrynose passes and head for the coast, But some fool had crashed and blocked the road, so after a bit of a detour I was able to show Sue my “other office”, coffee at St Bees head, the start of the Coast to Coast walk, yet another of our grand schemes for the future. Stopped off in Keswick and checked up on our place, before retiring back to Grasmere for a rather impressive piece of Cumbrian Beef.
Back home Monday, and my knee seems to have had no adverse reaction, so back into gentle training this week, Will have to give the swimming a miss, looks a bit grim for public viewing !
Glad the knee is healing up.
Please pass on mine and Ems congratulations to Sam, great news.
